Name: Kemti Vulpes
Age: 22
Class: Fox 7
Appearance: Kemti is small but present. Though she’s about a head taller than the average human woman, she is slender and lithe due to her time in the ‘wild’ and the few years she spent as a dancer. But at the same time few see her as ‘older’ due to her face and the way she often acts. She might carry herself as and older person would, but few can see past her wide eyes and springy step. That and her childish personality.
The few fox-like qualities Kemti has are her almond eyes and fang like teeth. She wears her red hair in a double bun to keep it out of her face and hint at her true nature. This is accompanied by ribbons (lots of them). She wear’s a one piece white dress that nearly reaches her knees, tied off with a belt at the waist. On top of that a green blouse-thing that looks almost like an apron that ties around her arms and waist (I really have no idea what it is, just go with it or look at the picture).
There was a time when Kemti’s beast form was a beautiful red fox, black topped ears, white tipped tail, the works; but as the years went by and she became more human, it changed. It was slow at first, but eventually it changed drastically, leaving her more human than animal. Basically, red hair (and these aren't luscious locks mind you) appears all across her body. Her hands become more wild and angular, little claws at the tips of them. Her feet shape into things that look more like fox paws and are black like her hands. Her jaws and face flesh out into a muzzle and her ears replace her buns. Her hair is a little shaggy but mainly ruff like, well like a fox's. Basically kinda like a red were-wolf except a bit more human and smaller. She's not meant for ripping things apart but quickly punching and scratching and biting. And while Kemti says she see’s this as a way to get stronger, a part of her still misses her wild side. Maybe one day she’ll listen to the call of the wild again.
Personality: Kemti can be… annoying at times. While she is technically in her twenties, she is still relatively new to human culture. She loves getting to know people, asking lots of questions and generally poking her nose in where it doesn’t belong. She also like showing off what she does (or perhaps doesn’t) know of human culture. Especially around other taguel, many of who still don’t seem to understand humans well.
Speaking of taguel, due to her upbringing Kemti has various ideas and notions concerning others of her race. She simply hates dogs (it’s a fox thing) and will generally hide or run away if they are nearby. As for wolves and coyotes, she tends to hold back and be wary, making sure they intend her no harm before approaching. Bird taguel have her respect, they cunningly found their way into the sky. Bear’s are like dragons; she knows little about them and may begin to interrogate them or just simply leave them alone depending on the situation. The only taguel she treats poorly(ish) are rabbits; they’re one of the few she actually feels ‘above’ and tends to treat them as such to a certain degree. She does her best to mask her presence if there is another fox nearby.
Anyways, while Kemti can certainly be annoying, she can also be timid. She is easily frightened when alone, especially when out in the middle of nowhere. Only once the metaphorical ice is broken is she more relaxed and inquisitive. People also tend to see her as a child, in which cases she tends to get very annoyed. She is also deathly afraid of mauthe doogs (it has the word dog in it).
Backstory: Kemti's story is a long one, but short in time. Very soon after she was born she was thrown into what the fox skulks call life, their eternal dance with death. While the red fox were the greatest of the skulks, they were not the greatest of the Canine tribe. Within her first few years she lost many of her litter mates to wolves, coyotes, and other carnivores. One might die stealing from a wolf, another intruding upon the coyotes land; whether they were taguel or not, it did not matter. That was the way it was.
The fox skulks are forever entwined on a two front war, one amongst themselves and that against the monsters. They fight each other for land and food as their populations grow. Though at times they are known to put aside their differences to protect the warren. Kemti came of age during one of these times. The reds had been making a move to take more land when they found a large nest nearby the warren. Many wondered how it could have gone unnoticed for so long. And yet others knew it was because they were too busy fighting among themselves.
The skulks immediately called a meeting and cease fire. The leaders greeted each other in beast form, rubbing sides to signify they were equals. And then the great hunt began. Many were lost in the hunt, but they were victorious. Kemti remembered watching the elder's pile onto a bael as she killed her first bonewalkers. She wanted to be that strong, she had thought to herself. Strong enough to kill a bael, like it had killed her father. Few survived the encounter with the bael, and most that did fell ill.
After the hunt many had expected the thing humans referred to as war to continue, but there was no reason to fight. The skulks were too busy licking their wounds to fight each other. It was during this time of peace that Kemti tried to grow stronger. Stronger for the sake of her skulk and warren. Stronger for her litter mates. Strong so that she could kill a bael. She would always go on every patrol and hunt, searching for her chance to take one on. But since the hunt few monsters came near the warren.
After a few year’s the skulks number’s had replenished, and they began their dance once again. It was during this time Kemti began to truly understand what it was to be a fox. To constantly fight and find ever more cunning ways to outsmart your enemy. And she hated it. She wanted to fight monsters, she wanted a real reason to fight.
No one is sure when Kemti's interest in human's first appeared, even she doesn't know exactly when, though she knew why. But she was merely a wild one to them, barely clothed and unable to understand most of what they said. But as time passed she became ever more interested; she wanted some thing more than constantly fighting over the same piece of land. She wanted a bael. And so one day she left without a word.
Kemti wandered for several days after that before anyone found her. She had been sticking to the edge of the forest, uncertain of what she was doing. Fortunately it wasn't bandits, but a traveling family of entertainers. She was found by the daughters, who giggled when they saw her. Her hair was a matted mess and she wore only what was 'needed'. Their laughter and jests brought their father over, who then scolded them before trying to get Kemti to come out from the trees. It took a while, as she had been uncertain what the strange noises the girls had made meant. But once she realized he meant no harm she eagerly came out, shaking his hand like she had seen some humans do. She pointed at herself saying "Kim-t", which later turned into Kemti.
The man fed and clothed her, giving her the strange clothes of a dancer, with bright colors and ribbons. His name was Todd, and he took her in as one of his own. Soon she could dance like the other girls, and knew a little of their language. Kemti loved it, it was new and the ribbons and bright colors were fun. People smiled and clapped when she danced, and the other girls would say things and make their funny noises.
As time passed Kemti slowly quit transforming as often as she had, every day turning to a few times a week, and then a few times a month. Eventually she found that her transformation was more human than beast. And while she did mourn, she did not give up on her dream, merely seeing this as a chance to become stronger. Todd taught her how humans fought, and as she mastered it she began incorporating the dances he had taught her. Every day she understood more and more.
When they stopped in towns Kemti would take jobs, finding things, hunting things, killing things. The other girls would look on in disgust and make their funny noises, but she didn't care. She was a taguel, a hunter. Though she had lost her precious true form she still had her pride and duty. She still had a dream, a dream to hunt bael.
Years passed, and as Kemti came to understand more about humans she became more human herself. Though there were still many things here and there that made her different, most accepted her as one of there own until she would show them what she truly was. Some people didn’t like that.
Eventually Kemti decided to leave her adopted family to see the world. She still mourns the loss of her true form, but seems content with how she is, at least for now. She still looks out for baels, wanting her chance to feel the sting of it bite and prove herself.
