Among the most common of all monsters, Bonewalkers are animated skeletons possessed of a twisted cleverness that can make them more dangerous than their decrepit gait would suggest. Held together by magic rather than flesh, they are fragile and generally easy to disperse, but can reform so long as a spark of magic remains in their bodies; they are tireless and relentless foes, eerily similar to Dracozombies in nature but relying on numbers and group tactics rather than raw strength to overcome their foes.
Despite the obvious conclusion inherent to their forms, they do not appear to actually be the risen dead. This confuses and stymies researchers who would otherwise be able to categorize them, as Bonewalkers certainly appear to be decrepit human skeletons wielding ancient arms and armor, but they do not seem to have any particular connection to graveyards, nor are there any recorded instances of the dead rising again as Bonewalkers. Interestingly, unique among monsters, Bonewalkers have actually been observed as they spawn, clambering up from beneath the surface of the momentarily-pliable earth like drowning men escaping an earthen sea. They do not seem able to re-bury themselves once spawned, but their tendency to appear out of nowhere leaves them capable of ambushes nearly as devastating as those of Gargoyles, though unlike Gargoyles, Bonewalkers are not limited to night-only assaults - though neither are they capable of retreating quickly when a fight goes poorly.
