- Classes do not exist - you pick your own weapon types
- You can mix and match might and magic as desired; Swords/Axes, Swords/Fire magic, Aether/Nether magic are all fine
- By default you can start with two masteries, but specialists and generalists are welcome to start with 1 or 3 respectively if they prefer
- Buying a weapon type allows you to have multiple weapons of that type - "Swords" means you can carry a nodachi, a zanbato, and a katana if you want, or just a single broadsword if that's more your style
- If you aren't sure what category a more exotic weapon might fall under, talk to a mod or just bullshit it
- Remember that having access to a weapon type does not necessarily mean your character is a master of everything within it - a master swordsman won't necessarily have much idea what to do with a zweihander, and a dedicated naginata user is probably not going to be a master scythe user by default
Swords
One and two-handed edged weapons, ranging from kukris to katanas, sabers to scimitars, bolos to broadswords. Smaller weapons like daggers and oversized weapons like zweihanders/blatant Buster Blade ripoffs fall under this category as well.
Lances
ALL polearms and variants fall under this category - generic lances, pikes and spears certainly qualify, but so do naginata, poleaxes, halberds, guan daos, scythes, and fighting staves. In general, if it's long and unwieldy in close combat, this is your jam.
Axes
Brutal and powerful, axes and their cousins need little introduction. Ono or a battleaxe, a tomahawk or a parashu, mace or club, you hit the bad guys with them and they stop moving.
Unarmed
Any form of combat using primarily the body, especially involving martial arts of some form. Fists and claws are the default, but weapons designed to enhance unarmed prowess, like bagh nakhs, are acceptable as well. While any trained warrior is bound to have some level of unarmed physical ability, obtaining this weapon signifies a level of mastery far beyond clumsy punches and kicks.
Thrown
A catch-all category for weapons that can be, er, thrown. By default it describes simple, dedicated throwing weapons like throwing knives, kunai, shuriken, and chakrams. Combined with other weapon types, you can justify other simple thrown weapons, like javelins (Thrown+Lances), tomahawks balanced for flight (Thrown+Axes), or fighting knives that also double as effective ranged weapons (Thrown+Swords). Also used to justify some of the more complex weapon types, like kusarigama (throwable chain sickles) - Swords+Thrown is a good combo.
Bows
All varieties of long-range weapons fall under this category; shortbows, English longbows, even crossbows and repeating crossbows like the Chinese chu ko nu. Remember that guns haven't been invented yet, so no muskets or fully automatic babby killing assault weapons.
