Name: Alistair Reinhardt
Age: 21
Race: Human
Appearance: Alistair is a tall man, standing at around 6'2, who is broad shouldered and beginning fill out with more muscle. He has medium-short silver-gold hair and intriguing blue eyes that, in some lights, appear purple.
Despite his relative inexperience with the world outside of his old home, and the fact that he's only had a few years of combat training, he's dressed in impressive armour and clothes left to him by his family. Wearing a shirt of dark scale mail over a dark tunic and even a red cape, it becomes evident that he either robbed a princeling or had been one himself. What good that will do him now is what's in question.
Personality: Alistair is, above all else, a very driven individual. If he creates a task for himself, or is given a task he's willing to follow, he will happily put all of his time and effort into performing the task optimally. A skilled organizer and accustomed to being able to give out orders, he already has the makings of an adept leader with room to grow yet. Alistair tries to exude confidence at all times, regardless of how he truly feels and regardless of those around him.
He likes to think towards the long term, only pleased with taking small steps towards completing a goal if said goal is already thought out fully. As such he's a man a motives, very rarely acting out for simply the fun of it. To him, success and improvement are fun, though that isn't to say he could do with relaxing or enjoying simpler things more often.
As a result of his drive and work ethic Alistair can be seen as a good worker, if a bit bossy, but also sort of an enigma. He mostly relates through current tasks and goals, rarely stopping to get to know someone on an emotional level and even less willing to share that side of himself with others. He simply deems it unnecessary more often than not, but part of it is also that Alistair has yet to meet anyone he trusts with that information since being separated from his family. At all. Even within the Hunter's Guild Alistair has yet to trust a single one of them.
If he did, though, this trusted person would know key truths about Alistair. They'd know how he fears for his lost siblings and parents, they'd know how he worries he may not accomplish anything with his life. They would see past the confidence and notice these doubts that plague him. They might feel the rage he still carries towards his extended family, and the bitterness he suppresses at being a novice in a world where his old title means nothing.
Though he is driven to grow stronger, Alistair does have goals beyond that basic one. He wishes to grow stronger and continue working with the Hunter's Guild so that he may find his lost family, but he also wants to gain power, influence, and notoriety that he may create his own kingdom in place of the one that was lost to him. Alistair dreams of ruling a sect of land far more efficiently than his extended family had ruled their kingdom.
History: A long time ago a nameless family had a young member who showed proficiency in the use of fire magic. This family did their best to develop their gift, using it to aid them in their survival, for the Western Reach was a dangerous place to live, especially with no village or kingdom to protect them. Overtime their gift did grow stronger, enough to ward off most enemies and threats. Realizing they had the ability to claim free land and protect it, the family invited outsiders to join them provided they were loyal and serve the family. Eager for any sort of safe haven surrounding families came quickly, and over the span of centuries the moderate sized kingdom of Harvale was created, with the family taking the name “Reinhardt” as a surname, to show off their enlightened status to the world.
Alistair Reinhardt is the firstborn child to Desmond Reinhardt, the 4th prince of Harvale, and Alysanne Reinhardt. Including his own father Alistair had 17 cousins and uncles that surpassed him in terms of lineage, leaving him the 18th in line for the throne of Harvale. Due to this it was incredibly unlikely that Alistair would ever claim the throne on his own, but a few in the family and even their subjects would come to think this was a rather unfortunate fate.
While many of Alistair's fellow Reinhardts grew up spoiled or otherwise inept when it came to ruling, Alistair seemed to grasp the idea of it quite well. At the young age of 15 he'd even led loyal soldiers in a defense against a large group of raiders, attempting to steal women and resources from Harvale, though Alistair did not do much of the fighting on his own as he was still rather inexperienced at the time. Regardless the feat was an impressive one, and subjects most loyal to him and his father took notice.
Like all princes Alistair was taught well by the best tutors the Reinhardts had to offer. He learned of war tactics, governance, and many other things that would prove invaluable to a prince. His two younger sisters Erza and Yuria, received the same teachings. However Alistair’s parents put a significant amount of focus on these actual teachings over combat training, which most other Reinhardts were more eager to jump into. As a result Alistair fell behind his cousins in martial prowess, but he undoubtedly carried more knowledge in him.
By the time a 25th prince was born, King Barbarossa Reinhardt realized that the family had a dilemma: there were too many of them. Once upon a time the Reinhardts barely managed to maintain their lineage, with only one or two princes surviving to take the throne when their King perished. Yet now he sat with 25 male heirs, and princesses to spare. The rest of the family realized this as well, and slowly the situation became an insidious one.
Alistair's parents were clever. They knew that a civil war was coming, where Reinhardts would be facing down their brothers and sisters, their cousins and nieces, and even their own parents. As loyal as they were to Harvale, they were not willing to put their own children through such a bloody gauntlet. Packing quickly and quietly, when Alistair was just 19 and his sisters even younger, Desmond and Alysanne fled Harvale, for even the wilderness of the Reach was safer than their home at that moment.
Desmond and Alysanne had heard tales of a peaceful land, surrounded by mountains, known as the Lycian Divide. Their goal had been to reach said land rather than resettle anywhere within the Reach, yet they only had the slightest inkling of how to reach it. For nearly a year the family travelled together and struggled together, until an encounter with a territorial cyclops forced the family to scatter, fleeing the large creature.
For the first time in his life Alistair was alone. Once he seemed to lose the cyclops he frantically searched for his parents, doing everything he could to not let fear sink in. He barely managed to survive encounters with lone raiders and baser monster threats, even acknowledging that he'd been lucky as he wandered towards what he hoped were either his family or the Lycian Divide.
However he eventually came across another Cyclops and...perhaps more surprising, men and women that were attacking it. They were so skilled and coordinated that, within minutes of solid teamwork, they had the cyclops down, defeated. One of these warriors noticed Alistair and was quick to question him. After explaining the basics of his story Alistair was told that these warriors belonged to a sort of guild known as “The Hunter's Guild”. Taking some small pity on Alistair they offered to bring him to their guild headquarters, rather than allow him to die in the wilderness.
The idea was that Alistair could start a simpler life, but Alistair's mind was already going farther than that. Had be been powerful enough to defend his family from that cyclops, they'd have never been separated. With that in mind Alistair considered joining the guild himself, that he may learn to overcome and best the threats of the Reach and seek out his lost family.
Combat: Though he only received so much combat before he was forced to flee, Alistair is experienced with hand and a half swords. He doesn't have a truly set style in place yet as, again, his training was very much incomplete, but he was being taught to maintain an offensive presence by reading enemy movements and effectively stopping them from performing, using his range and his might to beat enemies into submission. Alistair also has limited Fire magic to aid him in combat, though it isn't very well honed yet.
As for his sword style, Alistair now has to forge one for himself.
