Name: Julius Kailas
Class: Hero
Appearance: Julius stands at 6 feet and 1 inch tall, under his armor his body is chizzled like a rock. Some times during his travels he'll wear a white cloak over his white armor. Depending on the job he wore different armor, if it required speed and finesse he wore his leather armor. If it required defense he wore his steal armor.
Personality: The easiest way to describe Julius is morally gray, Underneath his fearless gaze lies a deep terror of cyclops, he'll try his hardest to hide it but doesn't always work. Around the right people Julius may turn into a social butterfly but normally most of his conversations are to pass the time.
Backstory: A man and woman speed out of a town one night in a small wagon, not soon after they made their exit they were followed by an angry mob. An arrow flew from above killing the single horse pulling the wagon, the man drew his sword and told his wife she needs to escape and he will catch up to her soon, she needed to get their son to safety. She ran for her life as her husband fought for their lives, it didn't take long for the mob to swarm the man and kill him. The woman made the mistake of looking behind herself, she had tripped and injuring her leg, as the mob approached she feared the worst after hearing what some suggested they do with her and her child. Before they got close enough to cause any harm it was as if two guardian angels had appeared, she saw two silhouettes of winged people land between her and the mob. "ENOUGH! You shall not harm this woman." A male's voiced boomed from the one standing on the right. The one on the left turned to help her up, as she was getting to her feet she could hear her former friends call her a witch, a demon, and other foul names claiming she had cast a curse upon their village when suddenly an arrow flew past both winged people and into the head of the woman. "I told you enough, you pathetic humans did not listen to me. Now you pissed me off, you're going tofeel my fiery wrath." His body began to shake as his size doubled, his skin began to turn scaly, it was at this point they the group of people began to flee. Taking his focus of the humans he turned to the other dragon with him, he realized what that sound was. A crying baby, he heard it as they got near but never paid attention to it till now. "Julie, NO!" She turned to him, teary eyed and began to speak "Liam... We can't just leave it here to die." 'yes we can' Liam mumbled. "How many times have we tried to have children of our own and how many times have we failed. I stopped counting years ago, this tragic event could be a blessing in disguise for us." Liam sighed at the thought of raising a... human child as his own. He stood there quietly watching his wife rock the baby in her arms trying to calm the infant. After a few minutes of the two not talking Liam broke the silence. "Come, let us return home. Then you can clean that... thing and give it a proper name." As much as he didn't want to take in a human child Liam didn't want to upset his love, the two spread their wings and returned to their home. After cleaning the baby up they learn it was a boy, Liam asked what Julie wanted to name him, "Julius Kailas, after my grandfather." "Oh joy, he's going to be part of the family now..." Liam mumbled, he smiled and told her that's a great idea.
Roughly 15 years later Julius had always asked when he would be able to turn into a dragon like his parents, normally they told him he had many, many more years to go in order to change into his true form. 'You have to learn how to walk before you can fly' his father use to say, but today was different, Liam and Julie knew they would have to tell their adopted son sooner or later and they couldn't just keep putting it off. One day during Julius' normal exercise regiments his parents called him over to talk, he used this as a chance to rest for a few minutes before going back to work. Wiping the sweat from his brow he asked why they looked so bothered. "Julius, son, there is no easy way to say this." Julius raised an eyebrow as his father spoke. "About 15 years your mother and I were enjoying flight under the clear skies we spotted distress in the distance. A group of humans surrounded one and brutishly murdered him and set their gaze upon the woman that was traveling with him. Your mother insisted that we help her, for my sake it's a good thing she took action without waiting for a response. We made it to the woman in time to stop the crowd, they called her many bad things, before I could react an archer shot an arrow at the woman killing her." Julius was puzzled and asked what this story had to do with anything, every time he received a lecture there was a moral behind the story and this made no sense. "The woman they murdered, she was your real mother or so we think." Julius was shocked, he didn't even know what to begin to think. "You mean I'm not... I'm really hu..." He shot out of the chair he was sitting in, nostrils flaring as he was breathing heavily "I bet there wasn't a group of people that killed my parents, I bet it was you two who killed them right before you stole me from my family. You dragons really are monsters" In that instant he stormed off to his room and began to pack his things to leave. Liam walked over to an old chest and dug to the bottom to pull out an object. Luckily he was able to reach Julius in time, as he was in the door way Liam shoved a sword into his chest "If you plan on leaving home, take this to protect yourself." Julius snapped back "I don't need your pity." Julius shoved past Liam, "I figured you would want to keep the only thing I could salvage from the man we thought to be your father." Julius stopped in his tracts, turned back and took the sword in both hands and admired how well it looked after all these years. "If you stick around I have arranged for a man to teach you how to use that thing. In the meantime I will grant you the spars you challenged me to so many times. But let's get this clear, if you choose to stay it's under my terms. I am just as much of your father than the man that helped create you. I endured all the dreadful smells you humans create, I was there to teach you how to be a man, and I..." Liam stepped closer to Julius, wrapped his arms around him, pulled him close and began to squeeze. "Loved you as if you were my own."
Over the next 6 years Julie never let Julius out of her sights in fear of him running away, Liam's relationship with Julius went from a Love-Hate to a Father-Son. The two even sparred almost weekly, it was safe to say they grew closer as a family. One evening the smell of Julie's cooking filled their home, the boys couldn't want to eat after their spar. They weren't the only ones who enjoyed the smell of her cooking, The aroma drew in an unwanted house guest, Liam stopped dead in his tracks when he first heard loud foot steps, it didn't take long for them to feel them. Julius was still clueless to what was happening, before he could even ask a cyclops had came bursting into their home in search of food. Liam ordered Julius to stay back, Julie and him would handle this. Mid transformation Liam tackled the hulking monster out of their home, it seemed the two dragons were going to defeat it, the cyclops threw his large axe towards Julie. It struck her with enough force to nearly chop her in half. It was as if time had stopped in that moment, All bets were off, the beast could kill Julius with ease but that didn't stop him from charging in. The cyclops saw the boy running towards it so it went to crush him with it's fist, Julius was able to roll out of the way of the massive fist coming towards him. Springing towards it's arm he drove his sword into it and stabbed a second time before he needed to dodge once again, Julius was too slow, he was caught in the grasp of the giant but it wasn't too long before Liam slammed into it causing drop Julius. As the two fought Julius ran to his mother, now in her human form to conserve energy, She lay dying rapidly in his arms, both covered in her blood he leaned in to hear her last words, 'I love you'. The cyclops was able to get one of his hands up and injured Liam's left eye before he felt the sting of fire engulf his head. Despite the fact that the cyclops had died Liam kept up the assault of flame and talons, Julius was left feeling scared, depressed, and hopeless.
The cyclops attack had left both Liam and Julius unsure of what was next. A couple of weeks later Julius had left home, traveling to human cities to learn more about his heritage. After learning there were guilds devoted to hunting the abominations such as the one that killed his mother he went to join a few guilds only to be rejected by each one. He eventually set his sights lower and attempted to join mercenary guilds only to be denied for the same reason, lack of real combat experience. All of that changed when one day he was approached by a man, shortly after being denied the chance to join another guild, looking to hire somebody to scare his brother in law to pay him the money he owes him. Almost every guild he went to wouldn't take his offer or wanted much more gold than he would be getting back, Julius saw this as his chance to start as a free lance mercenary so he took the job. He spent the next few years taking odd jobs that people didn't want to hire a guild to do or things guilds refused to do. Along the way he fought along side guilds that rejected him, they saw how much he grew as a fighter and tried to recruit him, he denied their request based on the past. They didn't need him then, he doesn't need them now. While passing through a town somebody came to Julius looking for somebody to slay a dragon that has been plaguing their land for the past few months. They knew where his lair was but each attempt to send people to slay him has failed up to that point, he took the job to prove to himself that he wasn't weak, not like the day his mother died.
Most of the hunter guilds he dealt with in the past had little to no experience in fighting dragons so it was obvious why they failed. Julius dawned on his leather armor and began to mask his scent with things found in the wild. The town leader questioned why he decided to take light armor instead of heavy armor, "It's not a fight of raw power, I lost that battle the moment I knew I was up against a dragon. My steel armor would slow me down, it is also noisy and the dragon will know I'm there long before I know where he is. I have to mask my scent to aid in a surprise attack or else everything I did to that point was for nothing." The few hunter guild members there began to write down what he said, if he was successful they would be rewarded within their own guild for such a great find. Julius had finally made it to the dragon's lair that night, he crept around each turn in the mountain and made his way into the cave. Near the entrance he saw charred remains of those who failed before him, that told him it was a fire dragon he was dealing with, the cave itself wasn't too large but it wasn't small either. He saw a figure sitting with it's back towards him facing a small fire. "You're a brave one to come alone. I will give you this, you're no idiot like the others, if it wasn't for your heavy footsteps I wouldn't have known you were here." The man rose to his feet as Julius scanned the cavern, it was too small to allow him to make a full transformation, he would have to keep him in here so he could have a chance of winning. As the man turned around he did something Julius could have not expected, he began to transform into a dragon, before he grew to his full size he shot a stream of fire towards Julius who rolled out of it's path. He heard the foot steps of the man running towards him mid roll, he couldn't tell if it was the echoes or if he was that fast so he drew his sword and swung upwards to keep him at bay till he was ready. The dragon grabbed his arm before he could complete his defensive swing "You humans and your feeble weapons, you're always fighting over stuff that doesn't matter. Your race has no place on Elibe." Applying force on Julius' arm he hissed in pain as he dropped the weapon as the dragon lifted him and threw him across the cave, his armor made the impact a little more bearable but it still hurt. Once again he heard the echos of running, before he could get to his feet the dragon gripped him by the throat and lifted him in the air. "Any last words you path-" This was the first time the two were able to meet eyes, they were close enough to the fire to illuminate their facial features. The dragon dropped Julius in surprise. "Ju...Julius?!" Gasping for air he looked up, the man he had been fighting to the death was his father. He came to the quick realization he was taking it easy on him all those years, Julius' anger began to raise. Using that moment he sprung forward tackling his father, got on his knees and began to punch Liam in the face. "HOW. COULD. YOU. LET. MOTHER. FIGHT. THAT. MONSTER. IT'S. ALL. YOUR. FAULT. SHE. DIED." Julius spoke between each punch, Liam tried to defend against the blows but allowed them to keep going as Julius spoke. After he said what he felt he needed to Julius doubled over with his head on his father's chest sobbing.
Liam brought his arms around Julius, embracing his son. "I made the greatest mistake ever. I always thought you not to underestimate your opponents no matter what. I know humans aren't as strong as dragons, if you tried to protect our home you would have died. I did not want to lose my son, I thought with your mother and I being dragons we could handle the situation but I was wrong. I underestimated the cyclops and your mother paid the ultimate price. It's a great loss to the both of us, I can't ask to be forgiven by anybody. Can you do your old man one last favor?" Julius got off his father, the two saw up and Julius could see Liam's eye was just as tear filled as his own. "I knew your mother since we both were hatchlings, we grew up together and fell in love. This past few years has been rough as hell for me, it seems like Elibe wants to claim my life as it did your mothers. If I am to be killed I want it to be done out of love, not hate." Julius shook his head, there was no way he could take his father's life, standing to his feet he walked to where his sword landed and placed it back into it's sheath. He began to leave, he stopped near the tunnel that lead to the entrance, "I've lost my parents that gave birth to me. I lost the mother that raised me as her own despite the race differences, I'm not going to murder my father. Leave this place, do not disturb the people of where you go to next." With that Julius left the cave, upon returning to the town he lied about killing the dragon and went on his way. Along his travels he hasn't heard of recent dragon attacks so his father either took his own life or listened to his advice, he wasn't sure of either. He continued his life as a mercenary for hire after the fateful reunion.
