You can think of this as a bit of a mini-FAQ for some of the more common questions that come up specifically based around skills. More will probably be added over time.
Summoning Weapons
If your character wants to just pull his sword out of thin air rather than a sheath, that's fine (especially flavorful for Celestials) and doesn't need any skill investment. This DOES NOT mean you can instantly summon your weapon to you from 50 feet away after being disarmed.
Creating Weapons
This depends heavily on exactly how you're using them. If you just want to Gate of Babylon someone, raining down magical spears, it's fine to just have a Lance mastery and otherwise fluff it as magic. If you use Fire magic and want to throw fire that happens to be shaped like a lance, you don't even need that. If you want to actually be able to physically USE the swords in any fashion, you'll probably want to have at least 1 point in Summoning, maybe 2 if you want a lot of unique or instantly-rearmable weapons.
Gaster Blasters
If you make heavy use of actual creatures to launch your magic (ex. Sans' Gaster Blasters), particularly if they have physical form or are useful for blocking, at least 1 point in Summoning is suggested. If the 'summon' doesn't actually have any combat use (ex. you summon crystals to refract your prismatic Aether magic) you can just bullshit them with Earth magic or equivalent, no need for a point in Summoning.
Noncombat Mounts
The Mounts skill is only really needed for combat mounts that you can use in a real fight. If you just want to ride a horse for slightly faster travel, that's fine. You can even ride the horse into battle - it'll just die in the first post and you can't really fight effectively from on top of one without the skill anyways.
Internal Weapons
If you're playing a steampunk Darth Vader who has laser nipples, you don't need to buy anything special to rock it, that's just your explanation for how your Fire magic works.
Magic Weapons
Similar to the above - it doesn't matter if it's you or your sword who casts the giant wave of fire. You can say that ALL your magic power comes from the sword if you want. You can be a 3/3/3 magic swordsman, don't matter to me none. You can also just have your sword be on fire (Fire mastery) and have no actual magic stats at all, that's fine, it's just on fire.
