Dragons channel their power through Dragonstones, which are either metaphysical representations of their path to enlightenment or just a handy focus for turning into a dragon, depending on who you ask. While in human form, you only gain half the benefit of your Dragonstone and cannot naturally breathe your element; dragons are much diminished in human form, but can still fight. Human-form dragons are also capable of hardening their entire body enough to match their Defense even without wearing armor, and can additionally reinforce their limbs enough to block weapons much as one might block a sword with another sword - this additional reinforcement CANNOT be applied to their entire body, nor is it entirely foolproof especially against Dragonslayer weapons or area of effect attacks.
Dragons in dragon form have access to the full benefits of their stones, with their entire bodies hardened to match their defense as a simple result of the raw magical power flowing through them. This generally translates to being extremely resilient, since unlike armor there are no chinks in a dragon's hide. Transformed dragons are best dealt with in groups or with appropriate Slayer weapons, which were specifically created to pierce their unnatural toughness. Despite their impressive survivability, dragons are far from immortal - they are as vulnerable as humans while asleep, and barely on par with or even weaker than equivalent humans while in humanoid form.
Dragonstones initially offer a +10 total bonus, which must be distributed between any stats. Dragonstone+ and Dragonstone++ can be purchased from the shop, which offer a +40 and +80 total bonus respectively.
All physical attacks in either form are governed by the Strength stat. Elemental Breath (both forms), Evocation, and Avatar abilities are governed by Magic, though they are usable by dragons with little to no magic. Just be aware that if you have 7000 strength and 0 magic, that thunderstorm your lightning dragon creates is going to be more for atmosphere and background than actually exploding people. Also note that breath attacks create a one-post window in which ALL spellcasting, friendly or otherwise, gains a free tier of power (up to the cap); Evocation and Avatar abilities make this a constant effect.
Milestones
000 posts: Manakete. Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Air, Earth, or Magic element - this cannot be changed in play. Basic elemental breath with a 3-post cooldown, only usable in dragon form. Can turn into a dragon. Human form can fly if they choose to extrude wings, though not all dragons can or want to do so in human form. Can encase individual limbs in scales comparable in appearance to their dragon form, though this does not offer a mechanical bonus.
200 posts: Special effect added to breath attack, such as paralyzing lightning or unquenchable flame. 2-post breath cooldown.
300 posts: "Dragon" status achieved; stat caps skyrocket and the dragon is now treated as an equal by other Dragons, though Divine Dragons may not be as impressed.
400 posts: Elemental Evocation. Transformed dragons may evoke their element in the immediate vicinity; Fire dragons surrounded by intense heat, Magic dragons crackling with magical energy, etc. They may now breathe their element in human form with some effort. 1-post cooldown for dragon-form breath attacks, 2 in human form.
600 posts: "Divine Dragon" title. Elemental Avatar - while transformed, dragons can passively and actively alter nearby weather and are surrounded in a maelstrom of their element, which can be represented by anything from a raging thunderstorm overhead to a cyclone of wind around them. Their breath attack is no longer gated by cooldowns in dragon form, but still requires a 1-post cooldown in human form. Note that they still take damage from attacks aspected with their element, even from other dragons, but they are now immune to all evocations of their own abilities and from their element in nature, ex. wildfires or lightning strikes.
