Name: Kaelu
Age: Appears 15 years old, but lost track of her real age
Class: Rabbit-Taguel (feel free to assign level)
Appearance:
Standing at the clearly gargantuan height of 5’, Kaelu does all she can to make herself appear large than she truly is. Luckily for her she is Taguel and she has a fine pair of ears on her. When fully erect she can add an additional foot of height to her, but sadly she is often told that ears do not count. Despite being somewhat of diminutive stature, Kaelu is quite strong. She is not delicate, nor is fragile, because her lithe frame is nothing but sinew and muscle. All of her running and jumping and playing all over the place had to amount to something more than scabs and scars after all.
Like many of her tribe, Kaelu has fine layer of fur ranging over her body. It is soft and short, much like velvet, and is the color of warm amber such that it matches with her skin tone. Largely her fur is restricted to the back of her neck, down her back though never past her side, and ends at a point where her big tuft of a rabbit tail peeks out. Kaelu is quite fond of her tail and while it is not dexterous like the Cat-Taguel’s, she can wiggle and bob it willingly. Her fur color is a shade light than her hair, clearly a pale shade of auburn. Or maybe it is better to call it strawberry blonde? In any case, she has kept it cropped short in an inverted bob style such that the front reaches down to her collar bone and both sides can be adorned with beads, tassels, or feather. She does frequently do just that, and is especially fond of using bells and ribbons in particular.
Kaelu isn’t one for heavy clothing. She adores being out in the elements, but she knows better than to go running about in the nude. She doesn’t like clothing that waves or flows about her. If she must wear something, then it will serve a purpose and so everything she wears is as much a guard as it is an item of clothing. Her colors are pastel pink and pale, cloudy gray which the vast majority being pink and the edges and linings in gray. She has a chest piece that allows her mid-drift to show, the better to keep her flexible in a pinch, and bottoms that are short and held securely about her hips with a belt. Her forearms, elbows, knees and shins both have guards and Kaelu has opted to wear fingerless gloves, both to protect her and to allow her to use her sharp nails in battle. Shoes have been a constant battle as she adamantly refuses to wear them unless there is absolutely no way around it, such as extreme cold or extreme heat, because she’s gone barefoot for so long there never seemed to be a point to them.
Personality:
Kaelu is, for lack of a kinder term, a ditz. She bouncy, flirty, energetic... essentially a complete and total optimist. She has an enduring spirit and endearing to most for some of her childlike tendencies. She doesn’t like to give up and is quite stubborn, but once she wins just a little, she is content no matter the harm done to her. For her, it’s all about the little things and the little victories, just as much as it is about the big things and the large victories. Kaelu believes that there is goodness in everyone and is hard-pressed to see the evils in people. She is naïve enough about much of the world that she could easily be led astray if not for the animalistic tendency to sense that something is wrong.
She never knows what is wrong or quite where it comes from. It is just a feeling she gets and often time she gets this feeling right before some monster plows through the brush or a cart comes wheeling down the road at breakneck speed. Kaelu always shrugs it off as base instinct though this skill has probably helped to keep her alive through all of her life and will likely continue to do so. If it isn’t instinct, then it must be luck and Kaelu likes to think of it that way more than as instinct. She has two of her own lucky rabbit feet, four if she transforms, so she must be awfully lucky! It is not something she can control, however, and it always seems to occur at the very last moment if it ever occurs at all. In battle it is the only warning she gets that it is about to begin and from that point onward it is only her energy and optimism that call pull her out as a victory or send her tumbling as the loser.
Granted, losing really doesn’t bother her too much. Oh, she’ll sulk about it for a while and lick her wounds, but she won’t stay down and out for long. She has her tribe’s pride to think of and she can never stay idle for long. Kaelu will quickly reflect, find something good about having lost a battle, and then move on as if it had never happened at all. In this way, it seems like she isn’t serious about anything or anyone. This is not true. It is simply that Kaelu takes it upon herself to be the team motivator, whether it be a team of one or a team of ten, she wants to be the one who never lets anyone stay grumpy for long.
Things could be worse, after all, you could be dead!
Backstory:
She is one lucky bunny. Kaelu might not realize it, but being able to be raised amongst a tribe of her own kind for much of her childhood with her own family whole and unbroken can be quite the achievement for the Taguel. She grew up happily with her mother and father and three brothers. She played in the sun and napped in the tall grass and splashed in the brooks completely unawares about the monsters the elder Taguel fought against to keep their sanctuary a happy and peaceful place. Kaelu never saw a human whilst growing up, though she heard plenty of stories about them. Often she came to wonder if they were real or not, just like the stories about dragons, and would daydream about meeting with them and playing with them and showing off her long ears and bushy tail. It was such a grand idea to her.
Alas, childhood must always end at some point. As her brother one by one entered into adulthood and learned the ways of the warrior, so did Kaelu. Perhaps she didn’t take it as seriously, but she certainly worked just as hard. She was not the strongest, though she was quick and agile. She was not the largest, though she was sneaky and keen to pounce on those unaware of her with a giggle. She was not born to be a mighty Taguel warrior, but she just might be made into one all the same.
Kaelu went on ranging missions in large groups, patrolling for monsters and the like, and as per usual she was bouncing about and enjoying the scenery more than keeping alert to danger. It was on such a mission, after many in which they found nothing but scant signs, when even the most dutiful in their group had become complacent that they met their first monster. Oh it was hideous and it stank of rotting flesh! Kaelu hadn’t noticed it until it was nearly upon her and when the order was given to scatter, scatter she did. In fact, Kaelu went so far that she found herself in a place she had never been before and there was no helping finding her comrades. She tried, too, and cried a little until a small monster came upon her. Kaelu at least had the confidence and sense to deal with such a creature, but in the end she had to admit she was lost even after defeating her first monster. There was no one to share it with and with little clue of where to go, she wandered through the forests alone.
Cheery against the circumstance, Kaelu made her way eventually to the edge of the great forest where fields sprang up and carved the earth with the tilling of humans. Oh, the stories were true after all! Humans were real and Kaelu would now walk among them and maybe she could fight alongside them and make friends and have great adventures with them like the stories of her childhood! The loss of her tribe was a blow, but the finding of civilization excited her. She would make the best of this and maybe when she was older, and more sensible, she could find her old tracks and follow them home to tell her own tale. Until then, she travels on in search of companions and those willing to accept her ears, tail, and all!
