Name: Milenth
Age: 442
Class: Lightning Manakete (12)
Appearance:
Milenth in all her glory appear to be a rather fearsome dragon. Red horns, almost appearing aflame in certain lights, twist from the back of her head like a pitchfork ready to jab. Even her tail appear monstrous, forming like a spear and hook at the time. Her claws are long and sharp, ready to tear and dig into the enemy. Her spines also just out long and blade like. Her general scales appear a sickly blue color with various patches of black about. Even her eyes seem to reflect a bloodthirsty nature, red and slitted. Various sharp teeth jut out from the lower jaw and when she smiles, it appears to be a cluster of sharp blades. In end, she appears to be a dragon breed for war (which isn’t too far from the truth). While standing she could easily reach 15 feet.
As a human however, her appearances reflects something else entirely. Her original, rather sinister eyes are a lighter shade of red, full of light. She has a rather energetic air about her. Even her rather, light and revealing clothes reflect a rather cheerful disposition. She prefers to walk barefooted, often skipping from place to place. Her rather sickly scale color replaces shiny long hair that extends down past her waste. The only thing threatening would perhaps be the way she likes to walk backward and forget to watch where she is going.
Personality:
Milenth is a rather jolly and sociable person. She enjoys having conversations with other people to better know them and perhaps even use them (though she will never admit it). In the end she is a rather selfish person who thinks of their personal comfort over others. As kind and cheerful she appears, she can also be quite pessimistic. It can be quite strange when she sounds cheerful about her companions having their bones broken by a brute. This also leads to her trust issues. She understands that she isn’t human and as such, probably outlive most of those she encounter. She avoids having intimate long lasting relationships, sometimes leading to her picking on her companions if they stick with her long enough.
This attitude can be reflected in her battle style as well. In the end she mainly cares about having fun. If her opponent is a good degree weaker, she might even play with them and let them go in end. Sure they would be a little worse for wear but they survived a life threatening situation. She might even try to crack some jokes in the middle of a fight.
In the long run however, she tries to avoid fights. It isn’t that she is a pacifist but rather fighting has little to no gain. Her goal is finding that treasure or mapping out the land on the other side of the mountain, not beat a man to death with her brutish strength. In time she even loathes her dragon form for not being able to fit into certain passage ways or caves.
Her life experiences have made her quite adept and competent as an adventurer. Actually she is really experienced. You won't find her saying that though. She is not the type to brag or tell tales (although she loves hearing them). She knows she isn't the strongest or mightiest being out there, even going so far as having respect to most humans and taguels. However even she can't deny the usefulness of intimidation.
Backstory:
Milenth can trace her roots back to a family of defenders and guardians. Her ancestors were often short living warriors and warlords. As heroic as her family history might lead others to suspect, it does not apply to her father and mother. The family supposedly had found peace after generations of war. The short lived ancestors' deeds gave them a rather peaceful patch of land to protect and in return they did not bother those who lived under their protection with extra tributes and the like. Even now, her parents had lived far beyond their ancestors’ age.
This area (found around Northern Elibe), is where Milenth was born. In hindsight her name is quite ironic compared to her parents’ intention of her having a long and fruitful life. Their definition of fruitful seems to be sheltering her from the world. This life wasn’t bad at all. Her parents would play with her when she asked and there was always someone home to talk to. She enjoyed the peace and might have stayed if not for the stories.
There was plenty tales about her ancestors’ adventures and battles. These stories inspired her, not for their violent nature (in which there was plenty of gruesome details), but in the many lands they explored. It was a minor part of the tales but she was always attentive to those parts. As far she knew the world ended at the edge of the garden. At this point in time, she did not dare to ignore her parents’ orders.
As such she spent the first century of her life dreaming of other worlds or training in secret to be able to survive among the violence. However when her parents discovered her ideas, it soon became an argument. At this point she was just beginning her adolescent stage in life. In her rage, she stormed out of her home. Her parents doubted she could handle the wilderness and just waited for her to come flying back.
As violent as the world was, it was nowhere near as bad as the stories and more peaceful than Milenth expected. In one way, this was better for the inexperienced young manakete but it also made her less prepared to the actual corruption of the world. Before she knew it, she found herself lost without money or possession. At this point she tried to find her way home with little luck.
Lost in a rather cruel and unforgiving world, she needed to find her own niche. At first, she did odd jobs around town to earn enough to get to the next settlement over. It became quite obvious that turning into a giant lightning spitting dragon made the average person uneasy. In the end she spent most of her in human form. Although this was more of choice to avoid strange looks it has also kept her out of a number of troublesome issues. Her rather nomadic nature caused her to drift from one place to another.
Adventuring might not be as action packed as she expected, though there was still a number of fights she had to handle, but it did allow her to learn. Her naivety didn’t last long yet she still kept a positive opinion of most strangers. In time she even learned to use her own nature to get help in her journeys. It helped her avoid and talk her way out of most issues while in town.
At some point she decided to extend her reach outside from traveling from one settlement to the next. She grew curious of what was beyond the map. Of course that meant she might get lost if unprepared. This was when she began to learn a new skill. At first the maps were total crap that only she could make out but they worked. In time she got better at labeling things and the general creation of map.
On one particular venture into the woods, she encountered someone from an exploration guild. That was when she exchanged and showed some of her maps. The man was obviously impressed and offered her to join. At first she didn’t like the idea but it seemed that there was no need to stay in one place. She could easily send the maps to the guild and at the same time have the benefits of the title.
At this point she had become a ripe two hundred years old. Her life was full of excitement and now she was helping others. She might not be like her warlord ancestors but there was no war to worry about. Even when some companions join her and hate her for her existence, she could easily move on to another project.
She loves her life and still does. Her lifestyle has taken her deep into the wilderness and in turn she couldn’t help but notice the change. The rising tensions irritated her but nothing she couldn’t deal with. It helped that she hid in the veil of being a human. Her worries were focused at the change in nature. The monsters that have begun rising didn’t make sense.
As she continued to delve into ruins and land, she tried to make sense of the disturbance. As time went by, it continued to trouble her. However she paid the issue with only half her mind. She was busy with her own life after all. In the grand scheme of things, she thought that perhaps a hero or heroes will come along and save the world.
This leads to her current line of business, her adventures had landed her with enough wealth to have her own little room. She had spent the last few years running through her notes, trying to find some reason behind the rise of monsters. At the same time she awaits another call to adventure. Perhaps soon, she will find a clue or maybe she will just have to continue into the wilds.
