Here goes nothing.
Name: Kane de Gale
Age: 24
Class: Guard (5)
Appearance: 6'3" and 170 lbs. Clean and swept blonde hair frames Kane's face and chiseled features - sharp nose, squared chin and high cheekbones; a fairly handsome man. His hair tones well with his skin which is paler than what you expect a man of his profession would be. His profession, which, requires him to be in fit shape with a good posture and broad shoulders, as well leaving his face stern and his amber eyes indifferent. This apparent aloofness may give him the sense of authority that is desired among guards. He has few blemishes or scars to speak of besides the scratches on his hands from training, a feat that comes with his more conservative fighting style. He has an ornate set of armor that was passed down to him by his father. Mostly steel, it includes shoulder pauldrons trimmed and the bolts accessorized with gold leaf. A shoulder by itself consists of three plates, symmetrical with the other one. In between is a gorget of steel, etched with an insignia of Kane's family crest and painted entirely with gold leaf. The armor includes a set of gauntlets, plates over his thighs, and armor on his shins (below his knees) that goes over his leather boots. Loose chain mail covers his lower abdominal region, sides, and lower back. Black padded trousers cover his legs. All this is to say is that he's relatively well-armored, but not packed down to the point where he is incapable of movement. That said, he saves enough agility to stay toe to toe with most people. He has a single leather sheath on his left hip with a rather handsome hilt and pummel of a sword sticking out from it.
Personality: Intelligent and stubborn, he's also dispositionally serious in almost every scenario, you'll be hard pressed to find him in a situation where he's taking it easy. He's an early bird and real go-getter, usually wanting nothing more than to get the job done. He has a sense of responsibility that he has had since he was young and it never left him. While it is a useful trait to have in terms of getting things done, it does keep him from enjoying life like how many other people do. Despite this, Kane is an incredibly selfless man and does what he can to help out others regardless of what it might mean for him. If a man's wife was kidnapped in a cave full of bandits, he'd walk in there alone and take on all of them. However, part of this mindset may be part of a guilty conscious after a recent incident regarding his father and how he was unable to help him. This isn't to say he doesn't feel genuinely responsible, no, he'd still lay down his life to save a child - but there's just more to it than feeling as if he has to.
He often seems distant or aloof - hard to reach on an emotional level. He's even oblivious to some forms of flirtation and will have difficulty trying to catch your meaning unless you're blunt to the degree of saying "let me shove my tongue down your throat". In which case, he'd say no still. He comes off as having little desire for a romantic relationship, or at least a relationship with anyone he has yet to bond with. Despite these traits, Kane is far from a robot. He tends to bottle up his emotions and suppress them to an admittedly impressive degree, almost as if he can turn a light switch and stop feeling whatever he was that he was feeling. He only really does that with minor feelings such as varying degrees of loneliness or disappointment. He is very capable of seeing sadness and anger, but typically doesn't show it unless he's about ready to burst. Bottled feelings cause him to behave rather rash, and would argue and yell at the king himself if, say, his family were to become homeless as a result of their house being taken away from them. This behavior, if anyone is to ever see it, would come off as a surprise to most as he seems to take everything in stride most of the time.
This isn't to say he can't feel happiness either. He actually feels senses of satisfaction rather frequently, but it usually doesn't show on his face. He smiles with his eyes as opposed to his mouth usually. All in all, Kane is a rather kind, responsible, and respectable kind of man that has put much burden upon himself for the sake of other people. While he may come off as intimidating, he'd rather be the one that gets bitten by the big mean dog as opposed to you being the recipient of the attack.
Backstory: His family originated from the northernmost region of Elibe, an off town called Gale. Now in the eastern lands, Kane was born in a typical busy village, about the size of a small town. His mother being your typical housewife. His father was one guardsman of the local temple, mostly guarding the room of the father priest. Life was rather regular for him, except that being associated with the church (and performing important tasks such as ensuring the father's security) granted him certain perks. Kane received a free, nobility grade education and got his exercise from his father as his favored son, who taught him sword lessons in his free time, along with other fun activities such as boating and wrestling. Kane was also the oldest of three kids, and while his mother was busy doing chores, he held the responsibility of watching over his siblings, a brother and a sister. This resulted in helping mother out with cooking and setting the fireplace and chopping wood. All this adds up to a somewhat busy childhood, but a rather healthy one too. His parents were good people.
An assassination attempt was made on the church's priest at some point, his father being the only one that stood between the too. He was able strike the assailant and run him off, but not without taking a knife in his lower back that crippled his legs for the rest of his life. The paid attacker was later found dead in the forest outside town, bled out underneath a tree. While not without a great price, his father was bestowed a great honor and was commended for his bravery and his family was relieved of their taxes. While the family grieved for their father's loss, they appreciated the good will of the town. The armor of Kane's father would be passed down onto him once he became of age.
Kane found his father's life a noble one, and one that many men should aspire to in the name of honor. And so he did, following in his footsteps. After moving away on his own and settling in a town near the border of eastern and central Elibe where he became a guard and trained diligently with the others. He became known as a good man, but his serious nature had him stand out amongst the guards who would relax and have fun come their break time in the barracks. He was the brunt of a couple jokes but is generally respected amongst this adopted kinship. On those rare occasions when he is off duty, he spends some time to visit the church in the town. Over time he found himself a somewhat religious person. While he is confused in the matters of gods and goddesses, he refers to religious guidance when he finds himself troubled or confused. He tries hard to uphold himself to the kind of righteousness and tranquility that is encourage by many holy books and often trying to understand the wisdom their proverbs.
Unfortunately, Kane eventually received a visit from a courier. Brought with him was the vague but ghastly news of his father's passing: illness crept upon him and grasped his weak body until he died. His father's condition left him rather vulnerable in more ways than one and odd how fate would have it that sickness would take him as opposed to any other manner. The causation of his illness was curious, as there was no sign of disease before it became apparent he was sick and the man died in his sleep. However, criticism wasn't on his mind, rather, he was mourning for his beloved father. After having spoken with his employers at the barracks, he was able to take some time off in the future so that he will be able to attend his funeral.
Assuming my mathematics are correct, here are his stats:
Strength: 10

Skill: 10
Speed: 3
Luck: 2
Defense: 9
Resistance: 2
I might change the stats about later, I'm not sure if I'm satisfied or not.
